about

Hello there and welcome to shantomo.com, the home of Shanti Hadioetomo’s (read: shanti hadiutomo) online and creative identity. I’m a graduate of Communication Studies and Communication Co-op Program at Simon Fraser University (SFU), currently based in Burnaby (Metro Vancouver/Greater Vancouver Regional District), BC, Canada.

Graphic design is my passion. But more than anything, I’m a strategic communicator dedicated to creating visual communication that engages new ideas and new ways of thinking. I am also dedicated to sustainable principles in design and production practises. I enjoy working with clients in creating eco-friendly solutions. My clients range from organizations that work with environmental conservation, sustainability and social justice to film, new media and fine arts. l’m able to develop communication solutions using a variety of skills including type setting, copywriting, interactive design principles, web design and usability. Beyond my creative abilities, my strong business sense enables me to take a project from start to finish within budget and tight deadlines.

Clients: Wired Woman, Habitat Enterprises, BlueFire Creative, TeraSpan, IABC/BC, Western Printers & Lithographers, Sustainable SFU, Union for Democratic Conference, SFU Communication Co-operative Education, SFPIRG Climate Change Action Group, International Students’ Group, Akili Education.

As a life-long learner, I’m constantly seeking professional development and community-building opportunities. I am an active member of International Association of Business Communicators, BC Chapter (IABC/BC), Society of Graphic Designers of Canada, BC Mainland Chapter (GDC/BC), Wired Woman, Vancouver Chapter and Elisama Children’s Foundation of Canada and I have contributed to organizations such as Sustainable SFU, SFU International Students’ Group and Simon Fraser Public Interest Research Group.

Being a member of IABC/BC and GDC/BC Mainland, I adhere to IABC’s code of ethics for professional communicators as well as to GDC’s code of ethics.

form follows function

The form is as important as the content. In other words, how you communicate your message visually can be just as important as what you say. Design allows you to connect with your audience more effectively and efficiently.

I have been working on various communication design projects since August 2006. My fondness for problem solving has been applied to identity and brand development, marketing strategy and project management. To learn more about my work, please feel free to peruse my portfolio.

Presently, I am looking for a meaningful full-time permanent employment where I can apply my diverse skill set. In the meantime, I’m also open to working on contract basis.
