about
Hello there and welcome to shantomo.com, the virtual home of Shanti Hadioetomo’s (read: shanti hadiutomo) online and creative identity. Thank you for dropping by.
I’m a graduate of Communication Studies and Communication Co-op Program at Simon Fraser University (SFU) and currently based in Burnaby, Metro Vancouver (formerly called Greater Vancouver Regional District), BC, Canada. I’m no longer with StepUp Communications and looking for new opportunities in marketing communications, which includes Internet/online/social media marketing as well as in project management areas.
Professionally, I have a four passions — human interaction, design, the environment and technology. As communicators and designers are bestowed the power to change behaviours and ways of thinking, I strongly believe that sustainability is an important element of good design. I’m well versed in social media and web 2.0. We can connect through facebook, LinkedIn, twitter and other social media network that might be more obscure to others such as blellow, Behance Network, design:related, makefive and more.
My communication skills is augmented by my skills in typography, page layout, web design as well as understanding of interactive design principles and usability. Beyond my creative abilities, my strong business sense enables me to take a project from start to finish within budget and tight deadlines. In five years, I hope to continue hone my current skill set and acquire other important foundational skill set and en route to become a stronger strategic communicator and design professional.
I’m innately curious with a lot of things and my inclination to a holistic approach drive me to cultivate a broad range of interests. My real education just begun the day I received my bachelor’s degree, with which I’m equipped with the necessary skills and basic learning tools to explore other things. To name a few, I’m interested in communications, marketing, new & social media, usability, typography, design, sustainability, waste, environmental conservation, social justice, and fine arts.
I am currently serving as the Association Liaison Chair for 2009/2010 at Society of Graphic Designers of Canada, BC Mainland Chapter (GDC/BC), an active member of International Association of Business Communicators, BC Chapter (IABC BC) and Wired Woman, Vancouver Chapter. In the past, I have contributed to organizations such as Sustainable SFU, SFU International Students’ Group and Simon Fraser Public Interest Research Group. As a member of IABC/BC and GDC/BC Mainland, I adhere to IABC’s code of ethics for professional communicators as well as to GDC’s code of ethics.
When I’m not working, volunteering and self-educating, I catch up with friends over a drink, walking around the city, rollerblading (in summertime only), playing pool, catching up on my TV shows, going to events around the city and now trying to get around buying a kite so I can fly it!
