It’s time for the annual student grad shows again. I’ll be checking some out. If you are thinking of taking another degree after the degree that you’ve finished or thinking of switching careers, these grad shows are a great place to see what the students can do and ask about their experiences.

The ECI Undergraduate Exhibition opens May 4 and runs through May 11 at our Granville Island campus, 1399/1400 Johnston Street. This exhibition features the work of over 350 graduating students. Buildings are open to the public, 10am-6pm daily.

The Institute’s first year program has a 29 year tradition of a year-end Foundation Show. This exhibit is a combination of work by individual students and includes a selection of work, by faculty, considered to be indicative of classroom activities and explorations over the year.

2008 marks our inaugural graduate student exhibition for the Master of Applied Arts Program! The Graduate Exhibition takes place May 1-11 at the ECI Studios, located at 1535 West 3rd Avenue. Don’t forget to check the GRAPHEX ‘08 exhibition as well! It’s taking place at the HSBC Pendulum Gallery downtown from April 1-12. This isn’t a student exhibition, but I just wanted to remind you as this exhibition only take place once every two years. If you’re interested, don’t miss it!

I am still busy with projects and it looks like my workload isn’t really going down anytime soon. I will be joining the sustainAB!LITY festival organizing committee again this year as the graphic and web designer.

Meanwhile, I just want to tip you of the upcoming World Graphic Design day on this April 27. World Graphics Day marks the 44th birthday of Icograda (International Council of Graphic Design Associations) in 1963. It is celebrated by graphic designers, communication designers and design associations around the world.

Just wanted to let you know that the GRAPHEX 2008 Winners Exhibit are taking place at the HSBC Pendulum Gallery downtown from April 1-12. It’s free, check it out! I wasn’t aware of graphex until about a year ago when I started frequenting GDC’s (Society of Graphic Designers of Canada) website. Graphex is a national design competition that takes place every two years and has been celebrating the best of visual communication in Canada since 1977.
